Prospects for the Development of Xinjiang Stone Industry

Writer: admin Time:2014-06-11 14:35 Browse:

According to the "Twelfth Five-Year Development Plan for the Building Materials Industry in Xinjiang Autonomous Region", Xinjiang should take the Shanshan Stone Park and the Minqi Stone Park in Qitai County as the core, and set up locations in Qitai, Hami, Heshuo, Wensu, Tuoli, Qinghe, Bole and other places established mining and processing bases for Xinjiang's superior stone varieties to promote the overall upgrading and development of Xinjiang's stone industry.

Resource advantages base on the construction of the park

Stone is one of Xinjiang’s dominant minerals. It is widely distributed throughout the region, prefectures (cities), and has excellent varieties and large-scale stone mineral resources. It has the characteristics of huge potential for geological work. It is mainly concentrated in Turpan, Hami, Changji and Pakistan. More than 200 deposits (points) of various facing stone materials have been discovered in places such as Zhou, Altay, Aksu, Tacheng and Bortala.

And Shanshan County, Hami City, Qitai County, Heshuo County, Qinghe County, Tuoli County, Fuhai County, Wensu County, Bole City and other places with rich resources have also introduced successively based on their own characteristics and advantages. The policy measures and industrial development plans for the development of stone have successively established stone industrial parks or processing areas, and the cluster effect of the stone industry has become increasingly apparent.

Especially in the past 10 years, the stone processing and trade base represented by the "Shanshan Stone Industrial Park" has risen rapidly. The stone industry bases in Qitai, Hami, Heshuo, Qinghe, Tuoli and Urumqi stone trade and export bases have successively formed .

In 2005, "Shanshan Stone Industrial Park" became the first provincial-level stone industrial park in western my country; in 2011, the "Minqi Stone Industrial Park" in Qitai County was completed, and the current output value of the two parks accounted for the total output value of the stone industry in the region 77% of it has developed into the backbone of the development of Xinjiang's stone industry.

One industry, multiple parks (spots) and a self-contained stone industry pattern has taken shape. Stone has become one of the most advantageous and dynamic industries in Xinjiang's building materials industry.

  Industrial development encounters bottlenecks

Tian Wenguo, Director of Xinjiang Non-metallic Mineral Industry Office, analyzed the current situation of Xinjiang's stone industry. "Abundant resources have laid a good foundation for the development of the stone industry. Through nearly 10 years of development, technological innovation capabilities and comprehensive utilization levels have also improved. The national policy has also brought good opportunities for the development of the stone industry. However, the industry’s extensive operations and some deep-seated contradictions and problems have become prominent." The bottleneck problems encountered by Xinjiang’s stone industry are the lack of brands, difficulties in exporting finished products, and regional The domestic market development has just started, and exploration investment is not enough.

Zhu Li, deputy director of the Economic and Information Commission of the Autonomous Region, also agreed. He believes that the stone industry is a “time-honored” industry. Internationally well-known stone companies have hundreds of years of history. However, the fact that the miners and the owners of Xinjiang are not the same person in the early stage have made the Xinjiang stone industry a short-term behavior. "Time-honored" well-known brand has become the weakness of the development of Xinjiang's stone industry. It is precisely because of the short-term behavior in mining that for a long period of time Xinjiang has exported more raw ore and less finished products. "These are all aspects that need to be changed in the future development of Xinjiang's stone industry." Zhu Li said.

At the same time, from a macroeconomic perspective, the U.S. Treasury crisis and the Euro crisis, as well as domestic housing control policies, will also have an impact on the development of Xinjiang's stone industry. The severity of the international economic situation will reduce their demand for our products. Control policies will also reduce the number of newly built buildings to a certain extent. If relying solely on the domestic and international markets, Xinjiang's stone industry will fall into a dilemma.

Stone companies began to focus on brand building

As Tian Guowen and Zhu Li said, Xinjiang Stone lacks a brand. During the 10-year period of rapid development of the stone industry, "Shanshanhong" and "Kalamari Gold" have become the symbols of Xinjiang's high-end stone materials. However, the market demand is divided into three grades: high, medium and low. Obviously, more branded stone materials are needed. With the continuous expansion of the market, this phenomenon has also been recognized by stone companies.

In recent years, in addition to "Shanshan Red", Shanshan Stone Garden has launched the gray "Snow Lotus", "Little Purple Nebula", "Pearl White", "Loulan Gold", "Crystal Yellow" and "Loulan Brown". "Diamond", "Loulan Brown Diamond" and other products; Qinghe County has also developed four series of products including granite, diabase, diorite, and gabbro; Hami City has red, blue, yellow, green, 8 series of products including black, white, brown and purple.

While owning brands and series of products, the stone producing areas and enterprises in Xinjiang also pay attention to technological innovation. They not only meet the needs of the high, middle and low end markets with different grades and specifications, but also develop stone crafts to adapt to the latest market Demand, continue to expand the market.

   Xinjiang's domestic market attracts attention

Because of the excellent mineral products, Xinjiang stone products do not lack high-end customers. Guangzhou Baiyun Airport uses Xinjiang Guanghui stone products. Customers from Central Asia and Europe at the Shanshan Stone Festival are also eager for Xinjiang high-end stone products. Xinjiang stone materials, which are going to the inland market and foreign markets, have been recognized by the industry. However, the US treasury debt crisis and the euro crisis, as well as domestic housing control policies are also reminding Xinjiang's stone industry to pay attention to the future market.

In 2011, when the BRT was built in the capital, all products from the Shanshan Stone Industrial Park were used, which changed the situation where low-end products from Fujian, Shandong and other places occupied the local market.

All parties work together to promote the development of stone

The development of the stone industry requires not only abundant resources, good policies, corporate confidence and decision-making, but also more external factors. The expectation of the stone industry in the "Twelfth Five-Year Development Plan for the Building Materials Industry" of the autonomous region is obviously to make the stone industry the pillar industry of the building materials industry. To achieve this goal, exploration, logistics, and the joint efforts of enterprises are required.

In this regard, the relevant person of the Autonomous Region Land and Resources Department admitted that there was insufficient attention to stone development in the past, and at the same time said that in the future, investment and survey efforts will be appropriately increased, and special funding support will be provided for resource protection projects with demonstration effects. At the same time, the central and autonomous regional finances also have special fund support for exploration.

According to railway logistics personnel, Xinjiang is a raw material base and the market is outside. This is both an opportunity and a challenge for the logistics industry. Under the current state of tight railway capacity, railway logistics has put forward a solution: Two logistics distribution bases have been built in the Central Plains for secondary distribution to help the stone industry solve the problem of difficult foreign transportation." The person in charge of the Park Management Office of the Economic and Information Commission of the Autonomous Region also said that he will give greater support to the construction of the stone park.

Looking forward to the future, I hope that Xinjiang’s excellent stone resources can build a brand and transport it to all parts of the country and even occupy the international market.
